Tavistock Real Cheese Fair
Our 2015 event was as usual a rocking rolling cheese success so thank all you real cheese lovers for coming we love it and hopefully it gives a nice insight into the world and the people behind the cheese as without these folk I would not be writing this because real cheese would not exuist as we know and love it.
See you in 2017 for the next one and hopefully lots before that in our shops. The Slice Girls will be pleased to select some truly great cheese for you.
All the best
Gary and Elise
Below are a couple of comments from our previous fairs that make the world of real cheese a wonderful place to be. Good cheese seems to attract lovely people, from far and wide!
Some comments from those who came:-
Richard from Poole said,
"We have come all the way from Poole, just for the cheese fair, it is brilliant" !
"Brian and I have booked into a B&B Saturday night to be able to come to the fair and really looking forward to it, especially to see the wedding cheese cakes. "
Jane and Brian, Berkshire.
Just thought I would pop this picture in, fabulous does it not look? Heavenly is the taste. Just some of our handsome cheeses resting in the serene surroundings of our ripening cave we sample them periodically as we do all the cheeses, making sure their journey to flavour perfection is complete.
Graham is talking Cheese at the Fair (above). He is but one of the wonderful cheesemakers you will find at our artisan cheese fairs. Don't miss out on such a fantastic opportunity - we are fun, and the cheese is AWESOME at the Tavistock 'Real' Cheese Fair!
The amazing cheddar makers from Newton St. Cyres, Quicke's, will also be in the crowd... what more could anyone ask from a day out, than sampling a wonderful creamy, nutty hand-made cheddar and talking to the maker himself about it, Stuart is a smashing bloke who really knows his onions CHEESE !
Check out their new Sheep cheese, ewe will go baaa-rmy over it! Sorry could not help myself..... I must be spending too much time alone talking to our cheeses (they like that joke) .
And, of course, you will have the chance to buy any of the fantastic cheesy creations you get to sample, in our shop, Tavistock Country Cheeses ...just a few seconds from the cheese show, in the Tavistock Town Hall. The Ace Country Cheeses team will be there on both Saturday and Sunday so you can go home with some totally beautiful cheese and savour the flavour that is 'real cheese'.
Talk to Richard Calver of Westcombe Dairy (left) and James Keen (right) of Keens Cheddar, their family history is entwined with un-pasteurised cheddar, this is the real thing,
once tasted and you realise Cheddar, real cheddar that is, is just such a sublime sensory experience and must be preserved.
Sue Proudfoot strives to make perfect cheese.
She started from scratch and now makes that 'perfect cheese' in fact several of them with her son.
